How Are GPs Using AI?
And how do they wish they could?
This isn’t a journal article – rather, it’s an analysis by the Nuffield Trust in the UK (if you’re U.S.-based, in the same scope as the Kaiser Family Foundation). It’s an interesting qualitative survey regarding the penetration of AI into clinical practice in the GP space, as well as where they see both limitations and potential.
Generally-speaking, ambient scribes were far and away the most frequent use case for AI – but there’s quite a list of other uses in the 20-40% range. The most frequently-reported vendors for each are also noted.
Then, there’s the hopes for the future:
Interesting to see how few ranked direct clinical augmentation (see: complex decision support at #10) versus offloading other time-consuming, burdensome tasks. The pain points for primary care come very clearly to the surface, here.
